[Day 2/30: Product Manager to CEO 30 Day Challenge] So, you've got this idea for a product, and you're ready to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. Great! But before you start coding up a storm, there are a few things you'll want to know about your product and its users!
Today we're going to talk about the ICP (Ideal Customer Profile)—the importance of defining who your users are, and what they do. First things first: when it comes to defining an ICP, there are two main components: who are your users and what do they do?
First up: who are your users? -Who do you think will be using your product? Are they men or women? What age bracket do they fall into? Are they from any specific cultural backgrounds? Do they have any specific health conditions that might affect how they interact with your product? Do they live in an urban area or rural area? These are all important questions that will help shape the way your app works and how it looks. This means figuring out their demographics (age range, location, gender), their lifestyles (what kind of hobbies they have or what kind of work/school situation they're in), and their values (what matters most to them).
Next up: what do they do? This is critical because it will help you figure out where the pain points lie in their lives so that you can address those pain points with products or services. What do they use in their everyday lives? What do these potential users have in common? Are there certain things that all of them need help with? What kind of tasks do these users perform on a regular basis? What are their pain points ? What are the few things that stand out as particularly frustrating or challenging for them.
Having a thorough understanding of your users and really immersing yourself in their daily lives will deeply inform how successfully you product will solve their problems.
